IPS Cleaning Procedures
Surface preparation is the single most important factor in assuring bonding of the coating to the pipe wall. I.P.S. provides a multi-stage system that combines the latest in both mechanical and chemical cleaning. The first stage entails the removal of all residual oils. Succeeding stages use scraper or brush pigs to remove the heavy scale within the line, followed by the batching of inhibited acid to remove any and all remaining scale and subsequent oxidation. This procedure provides the pipeline with a near-white metal finish. I.P.S. closely monitors each of these stages by collecting samples for analysis. The final stages of readying the pipe for coating involves the passivation of the metal surface, which prevents the development of new oxidation, followed by water rinses to achieve a desired ph and solvent runs, which dry the pipeline prior to the coating application. I.P.S. is an environmentally sensitive company, complying with governmental laws and regulations, concerning the handling and disposal of generated effluent.
